Ruth -- Session 6 Discussion

  1. Just looking ahead to chapter 4. There is so much culture making this an odd reading. Nearest redeemer just happened to pass through the city gate, there's 10 town elders ready to sit as jury, related redeemer fears for his own inheritance when he would be gaining more, he marries Ruth (doesn't just take her as another woman in the house) he is compared to Judah who inadvertently became a kinsman redeemer (which is weird because they could have compared him to any of Judah's children but they went with the illegitimate one), and then everybody sings the praises of this child. How do they know?! Then, if Naomi is too old to marry, how is she able to nurse a child?
    Okay, as I read more I may figure out some of these things but after the first reading, that's what I come away with.

  2. Oh yeah, since I didn't get it in on time I'll say it here. Boaz was married. I especially think that after reading chapter 4.
